An ACD once said this to me, and it’s one better compliments to receive as a freelancer. It’s important to think strategically, develop strong creative ideas and deliver great copy, but I believe that it’s just as important to be versatile, flexible and dependable. It’s an industry that produces new challenges every day, and that’s where over 20 years of experience come in handy.

In that time, I’ve worked on automotive, financial, telco and governmental projects. I’ve extolled the virtues of jewelry, wine, popcorn and Prince Edward Island.

I’m comfortable in traditional campaigns and digital-first campaigns, AI-assisted workflows and last-minute brainstorming. I’ve done long-form copy and 15-second TikToks. I’ve handled B2B, B2C, CRM, SEO, and every other kind of acronym you can think of.

I’ve had to put on a wig and fill in for an unavailable actor for a web banner. I’ve spent an hour driving around with a Tina Turner impersonator shooting a company’s internal launch video.

It’s all part of the challenge - and part of the charm. It’s also provided me with the experience to help bridge strategy and execution, traditional and digital, big ideas and practical deliverables. I’ve spent two decades evolving with the business, but haven’t lost my passion for the most important part — creating work that truly connects.
